Hallo Jan,

Martin (Autor des Modells) hier - ja, das stimmt, normalerweise warte ich auf die Fotos von Stefan und mache daraus das i.Materialise-Produkt.

Ich habe diese tollen Fotos vor zwei Wochen gemacht, habe aber immer noch keine Zeit dafür gefunden, aber ich werde es in den nächsten Tagen tun.

PS: Ich habe auch ein ganz neues Instagram-Profil, auf dem die Modelle von H0-Straßenbahnen (und einigen N- und Z-Zügen und ich habe auch einige superdetaillierte SNCV/NMBV-Straßenbahnen im Maßstab 0, die ich später zeigen werde) zu sehen sind, und ich möchte sie auch zeigen etwas Theorie der 3D-Modellierung (wie kann man ein gutes 3D-Modell von einem mittelmäßigen unterscheiden)? Und dank ihm habe ich etwas über Straßenbahnen gelernt, von denen ich nicht einmal wusste, dass sie existieren (wie diese hier) ... da meine Modelle am Anfang eine Hommage an tschechoslowakische Designer der 60er Jahre waren (Tatra T1, T2, T3 / T4)

Hallo, der Konstrukteur hier

Das Modell, das Spreeathener vor zwei Jahren bestellt hat, war die erste Version (übrigens danke für schönes Modell!).

Ab diesem Zeitpunkt wurden einige Änderungen vorgenommen, die größtenteils mit der Shipways FUD / FXD (jetzt haben sie unterschiedliche Namen) eine Neupreisungsstruktur im Jahr 2017 verbunden sind.
Dies führte dazu, dass die H0-Modelle ca. 20% teurer waren als vorher (TT bleibt, N ist ca. 30% günstiger).

Auf der positiven Seite - jetzt gibt es fast keine Nachteile für die Wandstärke, da das Maschinenvolumen den größten Teil des Preises einnimmt. Also, heute ist 1mm die minimale Wandstärke und das Modell ist steifer als vorher.

Weißt du, ob dieses Modell aus _meinem_ Shapeways-Modell stammt? Und KT4D lower ist auch 3D gedruckt?

Setting is not so easy, default setting for H0 is in attachment.
For N - TT - H0 - 0 the main difference is Maximum edge length (0,8 - 1 - 1,2 - 2 mm)

If the file is too big, then I increase Maximum angle (up to 8 degrees) and Minimum edge length and Maximum distance edge to surface to 0,05 and 0,05 (0,1 and 0,1 for 0 scale).
If the file is still too big, then it has to be meshed manually (look for the most dense object, exported with separate settings).

The rest (Density, Aspect ratio, Minimum initial grid quads) are not interesting.

Rhino 6 will have brand new and much better algorythm for meshing (new command: Quadmesh):

So I can give either NURBS data in IGS/STEP, or polygonal (not very optimised, but workable with) in STL or 3ds.

As my primary scale is N (and recently, I got interesting offer to 0 scale trams), I don't have power and time to develop chassis and bogies for H0 scale train.
There is ET165 from Lima, that should have cca the same dimensions as BR477, so the chassis should +- mm fit.

But I don't know, if it is possible to obtain this model either new or used.
But if somebody else wants to, and is capable to develop the chassis, I can give him maximum support (all important inner surfaces of my 3D model) to do that. Just send me PM.

Hello, I'll take it by points:

1.) Hard to say - If one material would be much better, I would offer only that one. FUD is more like resin (hard and brittle), and you have to clean it from support wax. BHDA is more like softer polystyrene. You can treat it same as plastic kit, but it warping sometimes. What is "better" depends on you - but in reality, I've remembered that SW changes rules for BHDA recently, and now the max size of model is 16 cm long. The models are approved acording the old rules, so if you will order it, SW engineers will probably just cancel your order. So I guess, in the end, FUD is only reasonable chance for H0 scale (small profile is possible in BHD, big profile no).

2.) I will have to look, why it is not in H0. Probably, it will be.

3.) I hope it will fit.

4.) It is good to wait for Black Friday, but don't expect too much. There will by maybe ony free shipping.

5.) I don't know how much I can do in next weeks - I will probably have to work in Germany (Wolfsburg) for 6 weeks (and then maybe whole next year )

ich bin der czhunter aus Shapeways.
Entschuldige mich, mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht (obwohl ich gut verstehe, ich kann nicht sprechen oder schriben), so ich werde auf English antworten

So:

1) The materials. I usually offer FUD/FXD (Frosted Ultra Detail / Frosted Extreme detail) and BHDA (Black High-Definition Acrylate), when possible (sometimes not because of the bounding box etc.).
Both of these materials have some advantages and disadvatages, sadly none of them is perfect. BHDA has more precise details, is easier to work with (cutting, drilling, gluing etc.) - is more similar to polystyrene from plastic kits. That is the good thing. Bad thing is that it is quite "soft" and on bigger flat surface has tendency to warp, and the second thing - there some amount of hand work involved in removing supports, that sometimes makes scratches and stains.
FUD/FXD is harder and tougher material, little bit harder to work with (something like PUR). It has to be cleaned from wax support (that makes lower quality surface on the spots, where it is touching the model), but it is geometrically very stable.
FUD and BHDA have very diiferent pricing formula (BHDA is only about material volume, FUD is a lot about machine space, height etc.), so sometimes, the prices are very similar and sometimes very different - it is very hard to guess when modelling


2) About the Gisela in H0 - to be honest, I work in some kind of chaos, so I don't know (remember), why G1 is not in H0. Maybe it is because bounding box of whole set, maybe I just forgot to make it. Have to look again

3) About ICKE's interior/bogie. I know Aziz - the modeler od ICKE shop. His work is connected to mine. My primary scale is N, so I don't have power and time to develop stuff for other scales. Aziz told me, that he can try to develop it himself, so basically yes, it _should_ fit together, but is not yet tested. When Aziz will get the bodies of my trains (should be today), he will test how it fits together. It would be great, if it was possible for more modellers to put models in one shop - sadly, it is not possible, so it has to be done this way (bodies from one shop, other from other shop).

4) Yes, from time to time, there are discounts. Something on Black Friday, sometimes there is free shipping, sometimes discounts on selected materials. Usually 3-4x per year.

5) I have some photos of H0 scale BHDA F79, but can't put them here (25Kb limit?). So I have to upload theme somewhere else, what I can't do now.
